June 2018 marks the 6th annual Cancer Immunotherapy Month which is hosted by the Cancer Research Institute.  Immunotherapy is considered to be one of the most promising therapies in the effort to cure cancer.  It works by enhancing the body’s own immune system, enabling the immune system to recognize, target, and eliminate cancer cells, wherever they are in the body.

Over the past several decades, research has provided substantial scientific insight into the immune system and how it interacts with cancer cells. This groundbreaking research has lead to the development of an increasing number of cancer-fighting therapies that harness the immune system in different ways.  Today there are many promising immunotherapy clinical trials that show potential for a cure.
